As part of our nature and animal themed week, Year 6 have been looking at Andy Goldsworthy as an environmental artist. We have learnt about how he uses things in nature to create 3D pieces of art, so we decided to do the same!
Yesterday we went on our very long nature walk through the woods. On our way we tried to spot as many different kinds of leaves and we did some bird spotting too. Prior to this walk, we got into groups and designed a piece of artwork and decided which materials would best fit the job! When walking, we collected as many as we could with our plastic bags ready for today!
This morning, we took our materials and recreated our design on the playground. The children were magnificent and they have created some wonderful pieces of work. They were able to work well in their groups, and could compliment each other’s work. Well done Year 6 – Andy Goldsworthy better watch out as he has now got some competition!
