Year 5 Woodrow Residential Visit
After the Easter holiday Year 5 spent three days at Woodrow High House residential centre. Located in the Chilterns countryside, we enjoyed three days of fun – learning how to cooperate in team exercises, developing our independence and facing new challenges. We had two lovely dry days and one wet morning and spent most of our time outside in the grounds and woods.
Year 5 learned how to trust each other as they navigated the ropes course and found their way in the dark around the muddy and squelchy nightline course. Accuracy and focus were needed for archery and good communication and logic for team problem solving. The group who designed and constructed the raft Titanic made it to the final in raft racing, coming a close second as their raft disintegrated. We escaped a drenching as we hid inside our team built shelters. And we all were surprised how high a pig could fly in rocket launching. Our evenings were busy with a noisy and humorous campfire, quizzes for the brain and cool dance moves in the cellar disco.
Well done to all of Year 5 – we had a great time together and you represented the school brilliantly. And we all made it home with our bags, cases, wellies, swimming kit, indoor shoes, outdoor shoes, coats and cameras – an achievement for sure! Bring on the Year 6 trip!
