River Dart Residential – Day 1

We are here and having the best time! We arrived just before 12 and were greeted by our instructors. We were given a tour of the accommodation buildings and most importantly were fed; we had ham, egg and chips with salad. We have felt incredibly welcome and the children love their groups and their dormitories.

We have been taking part in ‘Round Robin’ this afternoon which involves multiple activities whilst running around the site and getting used to where everything is. We have been climbing through trees, climbing on the low ropes, wading through water and pirate ships, running like spiders on nets in the air, scrambling through an assault course, climbing up slippery slides and playing games in the wooden fortress. We were completely soaked from head to toe, most probably because the end of round robin involved ducking our heads under a waterfall before swinging on a rope like Tarzan into a pool of water. Luckily for the children, there is a wet room where they can dry their clothes overnight.

Dinner tonight consisted of a roast dinner which was absolutely delicious, followed by chocolate cake and cream!

We have been on a walk tonight up to an old fort, which took us around two hours. We have just returned and have had milk and water and now getting ourselves ready for bed! It has been a very long day for us all.Ā IMG_1319 IMG_1321 IMG_1322 IMG_1324 IMG_1325 IMG_1329 IMG_1331 IMG_1332 IMG_1333 IMG_1334 IMG_1335 IMG_1336 IMG_1338 IMG_1339 IMG_1340

Hi , just a quick question . Who picked the groups ? Josh said that they had to put 2 names down of their friends that they wanted to be with . Not only did he not get to be with either of his close friends in the group activities for the whole week or in the dormitories but he was put in a group with just children from the other class , not one single person from his own class . This has ruined the trip for him . Very upset child and extremely upset parents and cannot believe that this could happen . Very unfair
