All we can say is that your sun dances must have worked; we awoke to grey cloud and a few showers but then it soon cleared and the majority of the day we have had warm, bright sunshine! It was wonderful.
Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4
Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 got a lift on the minibus to the climbing site today. We absolutely loved the countryside view and after being hooked up to our harnesses and helmets on, we stood at the bottom of the wall looking at what we were facing. Here at CRS adventures, it is not just ordinary climbing. The children get to climb up a real rock face! There were 4 different walls to have a go at and the children were absolutely fearless; even those who were a little bit wobbly kept going and were very determined. One of the walls was particularly challenging but the majority of us made it to the top with ease, including Mrs Hillier and myself. (NB: We promise we have taken part in every activity but when doing so, we have not had anyone to take photos so on some activities we have had no photographic evidence! Today you will see some!)
After a hot sausage roll, crisps, fruit and a chocolate bar (whilst sitting in a small downpour) we made our way down the hill, ready to embark on a very long walk! We had great fun walking past the river, skimming stones, and making 3D sculptures of our favourite activities. On our walk, we were told a story which your child can tell you when they return! Because of this story, we had to walk with our trousers tucked into our socks… a great sight! We also had some free time to play football and even visited the ice cream van!
Groups 5 and 6
Groups 5 and 6 had a fantastic day canoeing, kayaking and caving. They went in a mini bus to caving, armed with wellies, helmets with lights on and waterproof gear. They had to crawl through tunnels, mud and water and thoroughly enjoyed it! Those who wanted to went down a cave slide, pulling themselves up on a role and sliding down! They found a huge stone called the ‘Bishop’s Bum’ which they had to kiss or touch for good luck for the rest of the day!
Tonight we had spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread, followed by jam sponge pudding and custard! Groups 1, 2 and 3 took part in the gymo course (a little bit like orienteering) and group 2 won! We then had fun playing around on the zipwire and obstacle courses. Groups 4, 5 and 6 had the mini olympics!
Tomorrow we have the most exciting day and we are all ready and raring to go.
The children are absolutely exhausted.. we’ve had a few tears and tumbles tonight but they are all good and excited for tomorrow.
