Athletics Competition

On Tuesday 14th June, Mrs Blandford and I took a group of 16 Year 5 and 6 children to take part in the annual Quadkids Athletics competition at Little Marlow running track, run by Sir William Borlase School. The children took part in 4 different events: 600m run, 75m sprint, long jump and vortex howler throw. They performed brilliantly and even the rain held off! None of them gave up and they showed real grit and determination in every event. not only this, they encouraged and supported each other and had fantastic team spirit all afternoon.

It is always when you take children out of school that you fully realise and appreciate how wonderful, respectful and utterly brilliant they are, when faced with other schools and in comparison to other children. We were very proud of their behaviour; our Manor Farm children really do shine and they are truly fabulous.

The results of the competition were announced last Friday and were as follows:

1st: Year 6 Burford – 1621 points

2nd: Year 5 Burford – 1423 points

3rd: Year 6 Manor Farm – 1396 points

4th: Ash Hill – 1398 points

5th: Year 5 Manor Farm – 1228 points

Walking away from the competition, we knew we hadn’t won but we know that if we could have won extra points for team spirit and behaviour, then we would have been at the top no question! The taking part was for more important and the children should be very, very happy with what they achieved.

Well done you fabulous 16!

Thank you to any parents who transported children and came to support!

Miss Bartropp and Mrs Blandford
