Homework due in on Tuesday 8th November.
This week your Maths homework has been set on Mathletics. All your activities are based around measurement of length and mass as this is what we have been learning about in class. Please complete the activities set by your teacher. Remember we can check how long you have spent on your homework and how you have got on. If you cannot access Mathletics for any reason, please let us know and we can give out paper homework this week instead. Don’t forget, if you go on Mathletics more frequently at home, you will be in with the chance of winning the Mathletics certificate on Friday.
Make sure you are also learning your times tables every day. We do Cracking Times Tables every Monday.
Title: Can I identify different types of words?
This week, in preparation for writing our non-chronological reports we have been learning about different types of words. We have already learnt about verbs and adjectives already this term, but we have also come across adverbs and nouns too. This week your homework is to colour in the picture using the key to show the different types of words.
Cherries and Grapes – You must find and colour verbs, adjectives and nouns.
Oranges and Pears – You must find and colour verbs, adjectives, nouns and adverbs.
Strawberries and Watermelons – You must find and colour verbs, adjectives, nouns, adverbs, prepositions for place (we learnt about these before half term) and conjunctions.
You must only use colouring pencil to colour in the picture – no coloured pens, sharpies or highlighters of any sort. Please put the long date and title in your English homework book, making sure you underline both using a ruler and pencil. Then cut and stick in your picture and the key.
Remember we also expect you to record at least 4 pieces of reading in your Home School Book. We will collect home school books in every Monday. Please make sure you get an adult to sign your book. It would be great to see some different children achieving ‘Reader of the Week.’
You have been given your new spelling test list today by your spelling teacher. These will be tested on Tuesday 8th November. Please remember to write your 2 spelling sentences underneath your list, making sure you underline the spelling word you have used with a coloured pencil.
If you ever have any trouble completing your homework please come and speak to us. We are keeping a log of children who are handing in their homework and Home School Books in late so you must make an effort to hand it in on time.

Maths: LC: Can I multiply?
This week we have been learning about formal methods of multiplication. We have practised multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by a single digit eg 74 x 4. Please choose section A, B or C and answer the questions in your book. It should be set out the same as we set out work in school.
English: Advert research
We have been focusing on how persuasive writing is used in adverts. For homework we would like you to watch some adverts on television or look at some in magazines and complete the worksheet. Think about how language is used to persuade the reader. Does your advert have a rhetorical question? We will be using the research to create our own adverts.
This week we have been focusing on grammar. We would like you to add punctuation as necessary to the sheet you have been given.

Title: Can I write neatly, practising my joined up handwriting
Find or write your own firework poem. Write it out in your neatest – JOINED handwriting and decorate around the outside. Be ready to share these poems with the rest of your class next week.
Enjoy watching the fireworks over the weekend.
You have been given a sheet by your Maths teacher to complete. Your homework is based on BODMAS problems we have been working on in class this week. Remember to write out the questions and answers into your maths homework book really neatly. Remember to complete your mental maths corrections as well. You must spend at least 30 minutes on this homework.
You have one more week to learn your spellings on conjunctions. Keep practicing.
Remember you must be reading AT LEAST 4 times a week, and recording this in your Home School Book. You must also be writing comments and getting an adult to sign your book to show they have seen what you have entered for your reading.
