On Friday 3rd March the school was turned into our very own Wonderland as children and staff celebrated the works of Lewis Carrol and his famous books Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass. We began the day with a short play by teachers explaining the story of Alice, and some of the characters that she met. We then went into our classrooms to take part in all sorts of activities on the theme of Alice in Wonderland including learning Alice characters in French, creating nonsense words, riddles and songs. We ended our day altogether by celebrating the famous scene of the Mad Hatters Tea Party where we enjoyed huge amounts of cake (kindly made and donated by our parents – thank you they were truly delicious) and sharing some of the riddles and rules of etiquette that we created for our tea party. The winners of our costume competition were announced in assembly and huge congratulations go to Poppy Clark, Victoria Fosh, Sam McKinley-Hutchinson and Macy Coburn Cleathero whose costumes were truly fantastic! Our day was truly memorable, full of nonsense and fun!
