Five Go Out And About At Woodrow
Year 5 have just returned from their three day trip to Woodrow High House. We all had a great time in the grounds of this wonderful Chilterns centre. We were lucky with the weather – the sun shone on Monday and peeked out of the clouds on Tuesday afternoon and we dodged the rain until the very last morning.
We were supported by the excellent Woodrow instructors to learn many new skills and overcome new challenges. We all loved Nightline – an assault course in the dark – and we crossed the Valley of Doom on the ropes course. In teams we constructed giant catapults and launched rockets skywards. We all took part in raft relays which had close finishes. Some of us earnt the cutlery we needed to use at dinner by aiming our arrows in the right colour of the archery target. We needed to use our brains and dexterity to solve the problems of Team Ex. We had a good old sing-song at the campfire on Monday evening and the following night some of settled down for a movie and others took part in the dance-off, “flossathon” and limbo competitions in the disco.
We all showed we could manage to deal with indoor shoes, outdoors shoes, slippers, wellies and hundreds of pairs of socks. And we can put a duvet inside its cover!
We grew in independence and really pulled together as a team. Our behaviour was excellent and it was great to have the opportunity to have fun with old friends and new ones.
