This week your homework is going to be poetry! To celebrate National Poetry Day, we would like you to enter a young writers’ competition which has been themed ‘Wonderland’.
As we are going to enter this competition as a whole school, you should complete your entry using the booklet provided. Please write your name and age on the back.
You must do any writing in PENCIL. We expect beautiful presentation, just like you have been showing us in class.
Remember we also expect you to read at home at least 4 times a week and record this in your Home School Book. We will collect home school books in every Monday to look at your reading record for the previous week and will be awarding house points for the amount of reading you have completed.
Also remember to practise your times tables ready for our cracking times tables test every Monday!

Following on from our very successful Creative writing day with Cedar Park and Widmer End we would like the children to write a description of a journey. Please see the sheet in your English homework book for more details.
Saving the planet!
This year we are aiming to become more Eco friendly and reduce the amount of paper we use as a school so we will be putting the homework slip on the school website under the homework section. If this will be an issue for you please let us know.
Netball festival at Holmer Green Senior School on Friday 5th October.
You will be receiving a separate letter with more information about the netball competition. Please ensure PE kit is in school on Friday. Offers of help on the trip would be much appreciated. Please contact the office if you can help. .
There are no spellings to learn as we have started looking at more homophones.
Make sure you are also learning your times tables every day. We will be doing Cracking Times Tables on Monday! It is vital that you keep practising and improving on your scores.
As usual, we expect you to record at least 4 pieces of reading in your Home School Book. We will be collecting Home School Books in on Monday. Please make sure you get an adult to sign your book. Remember you can earn star stickers by challenging yourself with a new book, recording new words and recording fantastic comments! The more star stickers you get, the more chance there is of getting a prize!

English Homework We been looking at and reading ancient Greek myths. We have read the stories of Hercules, the Trojan Horse and King Midas. For your homework we want you to listen to some new Ancient Greek myths. You can use the Storynory website to do this-http://www.storynory.com/archives/ – they have an amazing collection of audio stories to listen to. Go to the website, go to the Myths and World section and then select Greek myths. We want you to listen to two of the following myths:
You can recap Hercules, Helen of Troy/ The Wooden Horse or King Midas
Then listen to one of these new myths:
The Boy Who Flew Too High
Andromeda and Perseus
Write down the names of the myths you listened to in your Home School Book and ask a parent to sign and confirm this.
