Y6 Residential Day Two

Today the children split into groups for their activities, these were either walking and rock climbing or raft building and high ropes.

Raft building and high ropes: Raft building provided ample opportunity for team work and learning knots and both groups were brilliant. The session culminated in a very exciting race between the two teams. High ropes [with 23 elements] was a challenging session with children overcoming fears and then wanting to do it again! They were amazing!!

Walking and climbing: Today the children had a great time climbing the rock (Leigh Tor, Dartmoor). All of the children really rose to the challenge and took every moment in their stride, not letting fear or anxiety hold them back. When walking back to the main site, the children stopped for a much anticipated and well deserved ice-cream. The children used the walk as a time to socialise with their friends, whilst walking through and admiring the countryside.

For dinner this evening the children were treated to a roast followed by jelly and ice-cream. They then headed to the fields to play a variety of games and team building challenges. Today it has been a pleasure to not only watch the children grow in confidence, but to see how they have encouraged and supported one another at every hurdle and with every success.
