Year 3

Due in Tuesday 3rd March

English

This week we would like you to complete a reading comprehension quiz. Please use a writing pencil and show us your super neat handwriting.

DT

In preparation for our new topic ‘packaging’, we would like everyone to bring in an example of cardboard box packaging by Monday 2nd March. The example should be no larger than a cereal packet and must be named.

World Book Day (Thursday 5th March)

If you have one at home – it would be fantastic if your child could bring in a named, vocabulary building game e.g. Boggle, Scrabble or Articulate. This would be to share with the class.

Don’t forget to take a ‘shelfie’ photo for our WBD display and send it into school by Monday. We would like as many examples of children reading by a bookshelf as possible.

Times Tables

Please make sure you are also learning and practising your times tables. Challenge yourself to achieve the level you are working towards on Monday.

Reading

Remember we also expect you to record at least 4 pieces of reading per week in your Home School Book. We collect the home school books every Monday to check this and award house points. Perhaps you could be Reader of the Week!

If you ever have any trouble completing your homework please come and speak to us.

Year 4

Maths Homework

We have got halfway through our maths syllabus for the year and we are revising the areas we have covered, before a test. Therefore, we are sending home word problems that relate to the topic areas we have looked at. Unusually, we would like this completed for Monday next week since we would like to be able to go through it in class with them as part of the revision process.

You should be spending about 30 mins on this homework.  Please set out neatly in your book and show your working out.

Spelling

Please note we are getting back onto our normal rotation of giving the children their spellings one week and then test them the following Wednesday. Please make sure your children look over their spellings and complete any outstanding exercises, as part of the learning process.

Year 5

Mrs Sheldon’s Maths group Maths Homework.

Friday 28th February – due on Tuesday 3rd March

Can I display data from my own survey?

Over the past week we have been looking at data and the different ways of displaying data. For homework, you need to conduct a survey (like we have completed in class) with the people in your family. This could be people’s favourite colour, shoe size, height or something of your choice. You then need to display your findings. You might want to draw a bar chart, line graph or venn diagram. Remember your title and date, and to keep your work as neat as you can.

Miss Wolfe Mrs Baker  Maths group Maths Homework

Friday 28th February – due on Tuesday 3rd March

Can I draw and construct a pie chart?

We have been reading and interpreting pie charts! We would like you to convert the data given in the tables into pie charts. Remember you have to find the total number of people who voted and divide 360 by this total to find how many degrees represent one person’s vote. Then multiply by the number of votes for each category. You can do all your work on the sheets provided. You will need a protractor and you must use a ruler and a sharp pencil.

Extras for the week:

Monday: If you have not yet been on the RGS enrichment day you will be going on Monday. Please remember your packed lunch and a healthy morning snack. You will wear your school uniform as normal.

If you went on the RGS trip last time you will be staying at school. You should have received a letter about the materials needed for our egg challenge. Please remember to bring these.

Tuesday: Energize people are going to the Wycombe Swan again for a rehearsal. Please remember your packed lunch, snack and water. It will be very much the same as last time.

Thursday: World Book Day – Don’t forget your costume!

Auditions

It may seem early, but preparations are underway for the Year 6 Summer Production. In order to begin with singing practise during this term, we would like to hold auditions on Friday 6th March.

Everyone will be taking part in at least one of the songs, but there are a handful of solo parts and duets in the production this year. If you would like a singing part, we would like you to prepare a part of a song to sing in front of everyone.

If you would like an acting role, you have been provided with a part of a script to learn and present.
